Vertical Maps is built from open data licensed for commercial use and from public government records. We do not scrape Google Maps or resell data from other lead vendors.

Map and business listings

• Overture Maps Foundation, places theme. Licensed under CDLA-Permissive-2.0, with Foursquare-derived records under Apache 2.0 and AllThePlaces records under CC0. Overture combines contributions from members and partners including Meta, Microsoft, Foursquare and BrightQuery.
• Foursquare Open Source Places, Apache 2.0, used to fill gaps.

Public records

• U.S. Small Business Administration loan data (public domain), for business size signals.
• State business registries and licence lists published as open data, where the licence allows reuse.

What we add

We clean business names, remove head-office emails shared across many locations, flag chains and closed businesses, group categories into trades, and honour removal requests.
